The first group to win The British X Factor competition is called Little Mix. The members are Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson. They are the first girl group next in line to the Pussycat Dolls to reach the U.S. top five with their debut album, breaking the record previously held by Spice Girls.
The song covers they have made and uploaded on YouTube was publicly praised, especially the group’s impressive harmonies. To create that certain kind of harmony, they definitely have worked out not only on perfectly blending their voices together but also their relationship as a group. They were pretty solid, so solid that they wouldn’t think twice about standing up for any member of the group. This is also the main reason why they are still in great terms, completing seven years of friendship.
They had their international breakthrough on January 2012 making an appearance at the National Television Awards. A few months after, they reportedly signed a deal to release signature products such as dolls, puzzles, accessories, and games. Not later they have released the group’s autobiography and went from radio stations to another to promote their single and debut album.
In 2013 they have started working on their second album, where they stated they want it to have a more R&B sound. They, later on, have released their single “Move” which peaked the charts worldwide. Following their second tour “The Salute Tour” that began on May to July 2014.
“Black Magic” was their lead single that was released in 2015, it remained at the top chart for three weeks. They also performed the same song at the Teen Choice Awards after receiving the award as Breakout Artist. Even I was hooked to this song, that song was certified Gold in the U.S. Who never heard of their single “Secret Love Song”? That was our anthem, my friends and I. Though we don’t really relate to the song, we can feel its emotions.
This year they just had their Summer Hits Tour, while working on their fifth album. Little Mix recently released their collaboration with Nicki Minaj on “Woman Like Me”. It was written by four songwriters, even Ed Sheeran contributed to the writing of the track. Falls in the musical genres of reggae fusion and R&B, this song is a tribute to women all over the world. It seeks to empower and encourage them to keep on going on.
